When it comes to choosing a right font, there are some things you need to consider first. Not every pretty font is a right choice for each business, no matter how much we like it personally. That is why I want to show you some examples in this week #brandingtipsfriday series, so you can be better prepared for the actual branding.

First, I must say that I am no fan of free fonts. 99% of my branding kits and logos are made with fonts that you must buy a licence in order to use. That is simply because free fonts often don’t have options, such as swooshes and alternate ligatures.
Being a professional designer, I need as much as flexibility with a font as I can get.
Many clients want different version of some letter, many names just don’t look good with the basic lettering that is provided in free font versions. And that is why I use free fonts extremly rare.
On the other hand, free fonts are great for businesses with limited or no budget. You need a nice looking font for website or Instagram post or even a DIY logo (which I am also not a fan of – you can read more about why in this blog post)
If you can’t afford to hire a professional designer such as myself 🙂 or you are planning to do it, but still boosting your budget for it – it is better to have any logo than none for some time.
So, let’s get to the point.

1. Fancy & bouncy modern calligraphy font – you can download it for free here.

This font is so cool and playful but still not childish so you can use it for a variety of female led businesses. From photographers, wedding and event planners, bloggers, hairdressers all the way to boutiques and creative businesses.. The range is really large.

2. Funny, modern and quirky calligraphy font – here is the download link.
As you can see from examples above, this font is more for some playfull, funny brandings for children photography, nail artists, kids fashion or handmade items.
Nice thing about it is that it has swooshes on both sides of each letter, which you can add to your lettering easily through the Glyphs pannel.

3. More classic handwritten style font made with a brush – download link is here.

This font is fantastic for anyone who likes natural handwriting with brush style. Ideal for creatives, fashion bloggers, photographers, anyone whose logo will be a personal signature.

4. More classic, modern calligraphy font – here is the download link.

Notice that this font has a lot of thick and thin lines, since it is more calligraphy style – which makes it perfect for adding various effects, such as gold foil, rose gold, glitter, etc..
5. The final font is kind a whimsical, playful and happy, which makes it perfect for photographers, bloggers, make-up artists, nails and lashes professionals, etc. Here is the download link.
I hope I gave you an insight into these free font resources, and helped you decide better about font choices for your brand. Next week I will be talking about best SANS SERIF and SERIF font options which you can combine with these script fonts.
